Bajaur: The Bajaur Peace Jirga held a landmark five-hour session with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and senior officials, concluding seven days of intense talks aimed at lasting peace in the region.
Chief Minister Gandapur praised the jirga’s dedication and announced plans to institutionalize high-level jirgas to promote sustainable peace.
The jirga firmly opposed any military operations harming civilians or their property and vowed to support affected communities. Both sides were warned that any civilian harm would face strong resistance and protests.
State institutions were reminded to uphold law and order while prioritizing civilian protection. The Chief Minister assured that no military operations damaging civilians would be allowed without provincial assembly approval.
The government also rejected forced displacement but pledged protection and relief if relocations become necessary.
Jirga members were assured of government support and informed about plans for a grand national jirga to broaden peace efforts.
Public Advisory: Residents are urged to temporarily relocate to safe areas due to ongoing tensions and a deadlock between parties.
