TORKHAM: Federal Investigation Agency(FIA) senior officials on Thursday visited the Torkham border checked the Afghan repatriation process, and met with passengers and officials at the Torkham border.
Director FIA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nisar Tanoli accompanied by Director Integrated Border Management System(IBMS)Islamabad Yaseen Farooq and Director Admin Shakeel Durrani along with field staff visited Pak-Afghan Dosti Hospital and departure and arrival pedestrian tubes in Torkham border.
The officials also checked the Identity Verification and Alert System(IVAS) at the FIA checking point.
Assistant Director FIA Torkham Yasir Arafat comprehensively briefed the officials about the current facilitation and replication process of undocumented Afghan nationals at Torkham Immigration and the passenger luggage scanning process.
The officials were also briefed about the Afghan patient’s facilitation counter and procedure usually takes place at Dosti Hospital situated at Zero Point at the Torkham border crossing.
FIA officials said that the visit of high-ups was to ensure a smooth documentation process for undocumented Afghan citizens repatriating back to their country. He said they have deployed extra staff at the Torkham Nadra checking point so that they could quickly process the passenger’s documents with all the rest of the facilitation and services for repatriating Afghan citizens.
The senior visiting director of FIA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa highly appreciated the FIA staff deployed at the Torkham border and urged them to work round the clock so that Afghan citizens especially women, children and elderly men returning to their country not wait for a long time at the Torkham border.
It may be added here that after the announcement of the deadline set for voluntarily leaving Pakistan around three thousand Afghan citizens have so far returned to Afghanistan via the Torkham border.
