KHYBER: Police foiled a terrorism bid and defused eight kilograms of explosive device planted with the back wall of Charwazgay police check post on Wednesday, officials said.

District Police Officer Salim Abbas Kulachi said during routine checking around the checkpost police spotted a suspected ghee container attached to the wall of the police checkpost. As the ghee container was spotted police vacated the check post and called the Bomb Disposal Unit(BDU), DPO said.

He said successfully police foiled an attempt of terrorists to target police and other innocent citizens walking through the checkpost.

Salim Abbas said eight kilograms of explosives were packed in a ghee tin.
Fear and anxiety among citizens further increased after they heard about the explosive device planted on a roadside police checkpost and asked the government to ensure their safety and security.

It may be added here that in the past few months, several terrorism-related incidents including target killings happened in district Khyber especially in Jamrid and Landikotal tehsils claiming several police and civilian lives.

The responsibility for recent terrorism incidents has been claimed by Al-Qaida and Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan which shows their presence in the border areas of Pakistan.

TTP through a written pamphlet warned journalists in district Khyber and asked them not to become the mouthpiece of officials and the government.
